The Lifecasting Process

Lifecasting is a 3000 year old process that produces beautiful sculptures from life. Transform you or your loved one’s body or body parts into a timeless, 3-dimensional work of art. This process is the experience you can expect when having a cast done for yourself.

Step 1

Decide on

a pose or

body part

to be

cast

Step 2

Apply dental alginate,

a safe molding gel that

dentists use to make

impressions of your teeth, all

over the parts of the body that will

be in the finished sculpture. 3-10 min

Step 3

Apply plaster gauze bandages onto the

alginate to make a hard cast. 5-10 min .

This step is eliminated if doing a hand or

foot only.

Step 4 & 5

Once the cast has hardened,

I will remove it from your body.

Your part in the process is now

over and we have our negative

mold. I will cast and reinforce

the negative mold with gypsum

to create the positive mold.

Step 6

Once the positive mold has hardened, I remove the alginate & plaster bandages and we have our positive mold.

Step 7

I will then sand, trim, shape, finish, seal and possibly mount your sculpture in to a timeless, beautiful, work of art that will last a lifetime.
